ASTM Test Method aims to protect systems during fires.

ASTM's Committee D09 invites anyone to join in developing new standard to help maintain integrity of cables during emergency such as a fire. Proposed standard WK52230, Test Method for Determination of Acid Gas Content of Wire and Cable Insulation or Jacket Material, will help determine halogen content of flame retardant cables. Manufacturers, insulation-materials producers, and test laboratories will use standard to ensure that insulation and cable jackets protect against corrosive damage.
