Guardian: A consortium of Ukrainian and international scientists is making an urgent call for a $13.5m (8.28m) programme to prevent potentially catastrophic wildfires inside the exclusion zone surrounding Chernobyl's ruined nuclear power plant. The fear is that fires in the zone could release clouds of radioactive particles that are, at the moment, locked up in trees, held mainly in the needles and bark of Scots pines. Subway commuters in Montreal will now be able to browse the internet, listen to streamed music, watch videos and make and receive calls during throughout the tunnels and stations along the systems green line segment. The Societe de transport de Montreal announced today that it has flipped the switch of for wireless Internet and mobile service for its subway line that runs through Montreal's downtown area between Guy-Concordia and Saint-Laurent stations which is now equipped to handle 3G, 4G and 4G long term evolution .

Britain's biggest drugmaker, GlaxoSmithKline Plc, fired an executive from its South African unit for refusing to appear for a performance review, which was called a week after he complained of racial discrimination in the workplace, Bloomberg reported, citing company documents. The executive, who was fired on Oct. 3, refused to attend the company's quarterly performance improvement plan, saying the program was designed to force him out, Bloomberg said on Thursday.

Samsung, which filed its lawsuit on Monday, is seeking damages for deliberate infringement of several technical patents, including a few that govern the way semiconductors buffer and use data.
