Dallas-based oil and gas pipeline giant Energy Transfer Equity on July 7 said it plans to go forward with its effort to buy Tulsa, Oklahoma-based Williams Companies Inc., which has a significant Houston presence, in a deal valued at up to $53 billion, despite recent turmoil in oil and gas prices. In June, both companies confirmed ETE's unsolicited bid, with Energy Transfer Equity saying it had been pursuing Williams for six months.
