It was the first time Jana, which agitates for change in some companies it has stakes in, has spoken publicly about the investment.

The domestic passenger car sales grew by 7.73 percent in May and stood at 160,067 units from 148,577 units sold during the corresponding month of 2014, industry data showed on Wednesday. According to the data furnished by the Society of Indian Automobile Manufacturers , the total passenger vehicle sales, which include cars, utility vehicles and vans, went up by 4.67 percent to 217,671 units from 207,953 units sold in May 2014.
