Senior System Engineer, Platform The onsite resident engineer provides bus technical leadership to the OneWeb program at the spacecraft manufacturer. The Resident Engineer will ensure sound technical execution of the design, assembly integration and test during the production phase of the program. He or she will follow the program through the first ten satellites in Toulouse, France, through the wider production of the wider constellation in Florida, United States. This role will be part of a wider onsite engineering team responsible for ensuring compliance with the specifications of the contract and management of the schedule. The onsite representatives ensure a unified and efficient engineering process shadowing the manufacturer, in a fast pace environment. The team is a highly capable technical group of experienced engineers who create, built, and test leading edge satellite subsystems. Our focus is identifying and resolving critical issues as early as possible to ensure, ontime, onbudget and accurate product delivery in an agile and focused style. Job Overview The Resident Engineer will collaborate across engineering disciplines to support the process associated with hardware, preproduction to orbit delivery, review boards, readiness reviews, subsystem and spacecraft data review and final acceptance with primary focus on the Bus. He or she will monitor multiple vehicles design performance specifications and ensure contract compliance represent the Bus team during design, development, production and test phases and, embed integration with onsite representatives to ensure a unified presence supporting the collective mission. Main Responsibilities Ensure the Satellite Contractor is compliant with all contractual specification requirements relating to the Bus Provide general system engineering and integration support in all areas with emphasis on the bus including development and verification of requirements, specifications, interfaces, and technical oversite support Monitor design, fabrication, and testing of a satellite Bus, assuring technical issues are properly addressed. Monitor and review of pertinent fabrication, assembly, and test operations at the unit and subsystem level Provide technical leadership in identifying, mitigating, and resolving applicable risks and issues associated with the development, integration and test of the multiple small satellite bus subsytsems Review of System and Payloadlevel Test Matrix, Test plans, Test procedures, Subsystem and Unit Test Data Reviews of spacecraft component qualification status and hardware technical acceptability Monitor and review of satellite level assembly, integration, and test operations including preenvironmental system performance test, environmental testing, and post environmental system performance tests Comparing the system performance with the contract specification requirements and identifying major and minor noncompliances. Synthesize and present technical data clearly and concisely, providing recommendations and informing management of technical activities, issues and accomplishments through reports and briefings to senior level management Essential Knowledge Skills Relevant engineering degree At least 10 years experience leading and monitoring satellite programs as a bus resident engineer, to include design, manufacture, assembly, integration and test of bus systems, in a LEO, MEO or GEO constellation. Ideal candidate The Key person shall have a university degree or equivalent in an engineering discipline relevant to the job profile together with the experience and capability to fulfill the assigned tasks without supervision. You shall have the following background At least 3 years experience defining and executing spacecraft and related ground segment system operations At least 3 years experience operating andor maintaining spacecraft monitoring and control systems based on SCOS2000 and employing the Packet Utilisation Standards PUS At least 3 years experience developing andor maintaining spacecraft mission control systems software for a platform based on the Linux operating system. At least 2 years experience defining and implementing the verification and validation of spacecraft mission control systems software At least 2 years experience of spacecraft and ground segment operations preparation and early operations activities, including operations procedure development and system validation, and commissioning You should be able to provide standbycallout support, if required, to report to the Mission Control Centre. In addition, it would be distinctly advantageous to have experience of the following Low Earth Orbit LEO spacecraft and related ground segment system operations, in particular for ERS, SPOT, Envisat andor Metop Network Data Interface Unit NDIU systems and their operation in support of the interface between the MCS and TTC ground stations Satellite simulator maintenance andor operation, preferably including the Portable Satellite Simulator PSS Maintenance of satellite onboard software.
