Video: Integral Tracking for the Hot Air Temperature Controller

2015-09-21 22:05:00| Chemical Processing

For a PID controller to perform as expected, changes in the controller output must lead to changes in the opening of one or more final control elements, which must affect the measured variable for the PID controller. Driving a final control element to either limit disrupts this sequence. This requires integral tracking, not output tracking. If the final control element has been driven fully open, control actions to increase the opening cannot be implemented, but control actions to decrease the opening can be. The opposite is true if the final control element is driven fully closed.   To access the entire video series from Cecil Smith, visit our video page. Cecil Smith is president of Cecil L. Video: Output Tracking for the Hot Air Temperature Controller

2015-09-18 19:34:00| Chemical Processing

This video examines output tracking for the hot air temperature controller. The hot air temperature controller outputs to a summer whose output is the fresh air damper opening.   To access the entire video series from Cecil Smith, visit our video page. Video: Controls for Hot Air Dampers in Alternate Control Configuration

2015-09-17 20:57:00| Chemical Processing

This video proposes controls for the hot air pressure and the bag house inlet temperature. Interaction is a major concern. Opening either hot air damper decreases the hot air pressure. Opening the hot air damper to bag house inlet increases the bag house inlet temperature. Opening the hot air damper to scrubber duct inlet alters the distribution of hot air so as to decrease the bag house inlet temperature.
