YouTube confirms launch of paid channels
2013-05-10 08:48:00| Telecompaper Headlines
(Telecompaper) YouTube confirmed it's starting to offer partner channels the option of paid subscriptions. The Google subsidiary announced a pilot programme for a small group of partners to offer paid channels on YouTube with subscription fees starting at USD 0.99 per month. Every channel has a 14-day free trial, and many offer discounted yearly rates. Once a viewer subscribes from a computer, they can watch the paid channels on their computer, phone, tablet and TV. YouTube said it will be adding more options in the coming weeks for partners to launch their own paid channels and to help users discover the channels. YouTube already counts over 1 million channels generating revenue on its site.
