"My amendment will result in significant lives and resources saved," Sen. Richard Shelby said in introducing an amendment to permit twin 33-foot trailers on the federal highway system. "You have all these trucking [companies] that are probably going to be put out of business so that big trucking companies can make more money," said Sen. Dianne Feinstein, who opposed the amendment.
