U.S. Senate passed Keystone XL Pipeline bill following 3 weeks of debate where more than 40 amendments were considered. Senators Portman (R-OH) and Shaheen (D-NH) offered amendment that would establish "Tenant Star," a voluntary, market-driven approach to aligning interests of commercial building owners and their tenants to reduce energy consumption. Amendment would also require that federally leased buildings without Energy Star labels benchmark and disclose energy usage data.

National Public Radio: A bill aimed at creating an advisory panel to monitor potential public health effects of Marcellus Shale drilling has been reintroduced in the state Senate. Senate President Pro Tem Joe Scarnati (R- Jefferson) first proposed the measure in 2013. He reintroduced it on Friday. SB 375 would create a nine-member advisory panel that would meet at least twice a year to consult with experts to analyze the health effects of natural gas extraction. Broadband bill clears Senate committee with bipartisan vote

A new bill aimed at creating more private broadband investment in New Mexico has cleared the Senate Corporations Committee with a unanimous vote. "It levels the playing field, so it should drive up competitiveness," Democrat Michael Padillla of Bernalillo told Business First.
