LG unveils G2 smartphone in New York
2013-08-07 17:08:00| Telecompaper Headlines
(Telecompaper) LG Electronics has unveiled at an event in New York its latest flagship smartphone, the LG G2. In a new design innovation, the company has moved all the buttons to the back of the handset. LG said the new larger phones such as the G2, which has a 5.2-inch screen, make it difficult to use buttons on the side of the phone. This way users can control the volume more easily. Pressing longer on the back volume button can also launch the QuickMemo function and the camera. If the phone is lying on its back, users don't have to pick up the device to activate the screen, as two taps on the screen will wake the phone up. In addition to the ful HD IPS display, the G2 comes with Graphic RAM, which LG says reduces energy use by the display, helping conserve the life of the 3,000 mAh battery. Other features of the phone include a 13 megapixal camera with Optical Image Stabilizer for sharper pictures and 24 bit/192 kHz playback for better sound quality. The phone comes with a Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 processor, 16 or 32 GB internal storage, 2 GB RAM and Android 4.2.2, in a choice of black or white. LG has agreements for more than 130 operators to offer the phone in the coming weeks, starting in South Korea and followed by North America, Europe and other major markets.
