(Telecompaper) Xiaomi has acquired a 0.48 percent stake in Chinese home appliance maker TCL, according to a statement made by TCL to the Shenzhen Stock Exchange. Xiaomi earlier signed a strategic partnership with TCL, with the aim of integrating smart devices with "core, high-end, and basic" electronic parts. The idea is to make it easier for TCL devices to integrate in Xiaomi's operating system. The partners may also make co-investments in the hardware field.

SK acquires stake in Pooq to enhance OTT video offer

(Telecompaper) Korea's top mobile carrier SK Telecom announced that it plans to merge its over-the-top media service Oksusu with Pooq, which offers programmes from terrestrial TV channels. The merger would enable subscribers of its subsidiary SK Broadband's own mobile video streaming service Oksusu to watch various content provided by Pooq, a joint platform of Korea's terrestrial broadcasters KBS, MBC and SBS, reports the Korea Herald.

Tele2 to sell remaining Kazakhstan mobile stake

(Telecompaper) Tele2 said it has given notice to exercise the put option in its joint venture with Kazakhtelecom, thereby initiating its sale of the remaining shares in Tele2 Kazakhstan. Closing is expected in about six months. The transaction announced on 12 December by Telia Company, in which Kazakhtelecom acquires control of Kcell, enables Tele2 to exercise its put option, as the joint venture agreement includes non-compete clauses.
