With less than two weeks until The 606 opens to the public, the creation of another rails-to-trails project on Chicago's Northwest Side is in the works. Called the Weber Spur Trail, a 2.7-mile-long multi-use path would stretch from Sunnyside Avenue north to Devon Avenue on a run of Union Pacific Railroad; railway traffic ceased there in the mid-2000s and the tracks were later removed, according to the city.

St. Paul: West Side group objects to chemical tank plans

A group of St. Paul's West Side residents are fighting a proposal from Hawkins Inc. to build eight chemical tanks, a tank containment structure, and truck and rail loading areas at 701 Barge Channel Road. The site, owned by the St. Paul Port Authority, is across from Pig's Eye Lake, between Concord Street and the Mississippi River, north of the St. Paul Police Department's impound lot.
