T-Mobile US to offer free intl roaming, takes LTE nationwide

(Telecompaper) T-Mobile USA announced it will offer its Simple Choice customers free data roaming in over 100 countries. Starting 31 October, they get unlimited data and texting in more than 100 'Simple Global' countries worldwide and USD 0.20 per minute for calls in these countries. No activation or additional fees are necessary. In addition, the mobile operator announced its new Stateside International Talk & Text feature for discounted calling and texting from the US to Simple Global countries. Customers never pay more than USD 0.20 a minute to a Simple Global country, including mobile to mobile. Calls to landlines in more than 70 of these countries are unlimited and included at no extra cost. Unlimited texting is also included to all countries. The plan costs USD 10 per month. Finally, T-Mobile announced that its LTE network is now nationwide, reaching more than 200 million people in 233 metro areas across the US.

Russia's Pirate Party wrote a letter to NASA offering to host the agency's website, which is currently out of commission because of the government shutdown. The Pirate Party -- a minority political movement in many European countries predicated on privacy and transparency -- informed NASA that it could use the party's dedicated servers until the U.S. government got off the ground.
