Egypt's civil aviation ministry has announced a new agreement for foreign currency payments to international airlines, who have been unable to repatriate earnings due to banking restrictions, Reuters reports. Last week Air France-KLM publicly announced that operations were becoming 'unsustainable' due to the delays in releasing dollars from Egypt to cover essential costs such as salaries, aircraft leasing and jet fuel, which all must be paid in dollars.

The Australian dollar is tipped to breach 74 US cents as it continues its blistering rally on the back of strong economic growth. At 1700 AEDT on Friday, the local unit was trading at 73.63 US cents, up from 73.17 cents on Thursday.

Magna International Inc. says the strong American dollar had a significant negative impact on its fourth-quarter revenue, which is reported in U.S. currency.
