US apparel imports from China fall furthest in September

The volume of US apparel imports fell for a second consecutive month in September as additional tariffs on clothing imports from China kicked in and the back-to-school season came to an end. Growth in shipment volumes from Cambodia surged during the month, while China booked the largest decline - a milestone that adds to the suggestion that US buyers are continuing to explore alternative sourcing options amid the ongoing trade war with the US.

Liberty Global results fall in Q3 as west Europe operations lose customers

(Telecompaper) Liberty Global reported a fall in revenues and operating cash flow from continuing operations in the third quarter, due mainly to continued weakness in Switzerland. Revenues fell 0.6 percent on an organic basis to USD 2.84 billion, also hurt by lower sales at Telenet in Belgium, and OCF excluding forex effects declined 4.1 percent to USD 1.21 billion.

Telefonica profits fall on restructuring costs, revenue still up 1.7%

(Telecompaper) Telefonica saw its revenue growth strengthen to 1.7 percent in the third quarter to EUR 11.9 billion, thanks to improved sales in Spain and Brazil and solid growth in the UK and Germany. However, the company's net result moved to a loss of EUR 443 million, due to restructuring charges of EUR 1.88 billion, mainly in Spain.

Veon revenues fall in Q3 on weak Russian market, Pakistan court ruling

(Telecompaper) Veon reported a drop in revenues for the third quarter, hurt by drop in customers in its largest market Russia and a negative tax ruling in Pakistan. Revenues fell 4.0 percent to USD 2.223 billion and were down 0.9 percent on an organic basis. Veon said it was still on track for its full year outlook of low single digit organic growth, after a 4.6 percent increase over the first nine months.
