We are looking to further enhance our team by Network infrastructure, services and solutions delivery, support, operations and maintenance You will be based initially for 2 years at our clients headquarters in Darmstadt, Germany. Your Tasks Include In providing support to delivering, supporting, operating and maintaining the network infrastructure, services and solutions provided for current and emerging operational networks, the key person shall be required to carry out the following tasks Delivery of network solutions and services that form part of a solutions portfolio. Identification and selection of the optimal solution or service for a customer request. Elaborating the detail of the solution or service for the given circumstances. Presentation, discussion and agreement of the solution or service with peers and customers. Planning and scheduling of rollout with peers and customers. Rollout installation, configuration, testing of network solution and services in coordination with peers and customers. Provision of support to customer validation and nonregression testing. Support to deployments of network infrastructure and services, resulting from large development activities. Use the network lab for proofofconcept and predeployment testing. Rollout installation, configuration, testing of network infrastructure or services. Provide operations, administration and maintenance OAM support to rolled out network infrastructure and services. Network systems and services anomaly handling and troubleshooting. Perform 1st line examination, analysis and debugging, upon suspected network anomalies, typically detected as part of monitoring activities. Raise anomaly reports. Respond to Operations department customers reporting network problems and provide 1st level support them in their troubleshooting, with provision of standbyoncall support following an agreed rota. Perform all aspects of 2nd line, expertlevel network troubleshooting debugging and diagnosing, rootcause analysis, implementation of shortterm workaround, implementation of longterm resolution. Perform backtrack analysis and interpretation of historical log data supporting analysis of reported problemsrequests Support to the delivery of thirdparty provided network services. Supervise and interact with Service Providers upon rollout of new or upgraded services. Cooperate with partner organisations and remote locations on the delivery and support of network connectivity and services between Client and the partner organisations or remote sites. Support specification and procurement of thirdparty provided network services. Contribute to specifications of tender documents, e.g. Statements of WorkRequirements specifications, and evaluation of offer documents, e.g. Technical Proposals, Service Level Agreements SLAs. Operating, administrating and maintaining thirdparty provided network services. Monitor, evaluate and assure provider service performance and quality. Review Service Provider reporting. Perform periodic reviews of Provider service quality and performance. Upon service outages affecting the committed service levels, followup and closeout provider actions in cooperation with Operations. Initiate and followup escalation procedures, if and as required. Maintain SLAs during service periods in cooperation with the Service Provider. Negotiate Service Provider activities impacting operations e.g. planned maintenance with the Service Provider and Operations. Announce the Service Provider activities to the Operations planning and scheduling activities. Cooperate and coordinate with providers of network equipment maintenance support on interventions and on maintaining and updating lists of equipment. Monitoring and reporting of the performance of the network infrastructure and systems, including thirdparty provided network services, and the quality of the services delivered to the users. Perform regular routine health checks of the instantaneous status of network infrastructure and systems. Check for events, warnings and alarms raised since the previous check. Perform regular checks of the load and usage of network systems. Monitor load and usage over time and extract trends. Perform regular checks of the performance of network systems, typically using scheduled and automated tools. Monitor the performance over time and extract trends. Correlate the network performance and services quality, in particular with load and usage of network systems versus the performance delivered. Correlate the instantaneous health, load and performance checks and extracted trends with committed network service levels and quality. Detect and report if thresholds have been exceeded and flag the need to initiate network capacity and performance upgrade activities. Propose and initiate enhancements in network performance and service quality monitoring, e.g. in organising the monitoring of the network infrastructure, systems and services, in defining new network performance benchmarks, etc. Using tools available on the network monitoring and control system, extract data from the monitoring logs, and compile regular trends and statistics reports on network performance and service quality shortterm daily, midterm weekly, monthly and longterm. Make available and stage these reports on a routine basis. Analyse network performance and service quality reports and proactively identify the need for upgrading or enhancing the network to maintain to committed performance and service levels over time. Propose and initiate enhancements in network reporting. Operating, administrating and maintaining internal network systems and services. Record and maintain the allocation of IP host addresses and network address ranges. Record and maintain the allocation of VLANs, VRFs, NATs, etc. Generate and maintain tools, e.g. scripts, running on the network monitoring and control system to extract data from the monitoring logs. Maintain configuration history of all network equipment. Support the network systems and services operations and management processes and documentation. Maintain and contribute to the network operations and management documentation and knowledge base. Specify and author operations and management guides and procedures Network training Provide training on network system and services, e.g. to internal Operations department customers Key tasks The key tasks to be accomplished under this contract will include, but are not limited to At Client HQ, contribute to the migration of customer networks from legacy to consolidated network infrastructure. Support obsolescence andor performance upgrades of the Client networks in remote sites, incl. Madrid, Suitland, Md US, Longyearbyen, Svalbard Norway, Fucino Italy as well as of the WAN links connecting the remote sites to the Client HQ. Support the migration from legacy VLS systems to a common consolidated infrastructure. Operate, administer and maintain the network systems and services as they are currently in place. Integrate newly introduced and emerging network infrastructure, systems and related services into the existing network systems and services operations, administration and management e.g. a campus backbone, a data centre network, a control center operators terminal network. Specify and author operations, administration and maintenance guides and procedures covering the newly introduced and emerging network infrastructure, systems and related services. Taking into account the current and emerging network infrastructure, assess, review and propose enhancements to the network systems and services operations, administration and maintenance processes, documentation, platforms and tools. Lead andor support activities implementing the agreed enhancements. Take on the planning, organisation and supervision of activities carried out by current WAN service providers on Clients behalf. Coordinate and support the delivery and upgrade of managed network services between EUMHQ and remote sites. Roles and responsibilities Carrying out the above tasks entails assuming responsibility, at the technical and coordination level, of the specification, planning, preparation, presentation, execution and reporting on those activities. Critical activities will typically be executed by small teams, where depending on hisher expertise and background, the key person shall be able to assume both the leading key engineer as well as the support role. The Contractor shall assume specifically the following roles and responsibilities Liaison and 1st line Point of Contact PoC to Operations department customers and users, responsible for all aspects of network service quality and performance and 1st line support matters. Liaison and 2nd line PoC to Operations department customers, responsible for all aspects of the infrastructure and solution delivery and support to be carried out. o Assume ownership of network solutions portfolio visavis the customers. o Assume ownership of customer satisfaction and feedback with regards to provided network solutions. Coordinator of network deployment activities. Liaison and PoC within the Comms team, responsible for representing Operations users needs and constraints, and safeguarding these on the production network systems, services and infrastructure. Liaison and PoC to peers in other IT support teams involved in delivering and supporting the IT infrastructure, and providing operational services and solutions. Liaison and PoC to Suppliers and thirdparty Service Providers, responsible for o third partysupplied service quality and performance o coordination of Service Provider rollout or upgrade activities with Operations customers o obtaining suppliers experts support for advanced cases of network troubleshooting. Ownership of network performance and service quality delivered on the network infrastructure and systems. Ownership of anomaly resolution, by followthrough and coordination of all actions required to get problems solved. The tasks assigned to the key person will be agreed through dedicated workpackages with clear identification of activities and outputs expected. In the performance of these tasks, the key person shall apply the Client configuration and change control procedures as well as the relevant system engineering standards, quality management procedures and maintenance procedures. The key person is expected to communicate verbally and in writing and generate and maintain documentation as an essential part of the tasks above. This may comprise writing and reviewing change proposals, preparing documents supporting procurements, reviewing data packages belonging to technical inspections and reviews, writingreviewing test reports and overall status reports. Your Profile Hard skills, experience knowledge In addition to having a university degree or equivalent, the key person shall have at least 5 years of proven knowledge and handson experience in several of the following mandatory skills areas a minimum of 6 are expected Advanced fault detection, analysis, troubleshooting, fixing, working with equipment suppliers to obtain support. Experience of using network monitoring and troubleshooting tools and methods real time and historical for carrying out the tasks described above. Experience of creating and maintaining a version management tool for network software and configuration data, such as rancid. Experience of creating and maintaining network monitoring and troubleshooting tools realtime and historical for carrying out the tasks described above, such as nagios, syslogng, snmp and MIB access. Experience of dealing on aspects of operations and service management with external suppliers and providers of network products and services within a production environment, including interacting with external providers on upgrades, evolutions etc. Understanding and experience of applying concepts and principles of service quality and service management in operational environments. Indepth knowledge of Cisco technology based network solutions. It will be considered beneficial if the key person holds a current Cisco certification or is able to substantiate equivalent experience. Network equipment Operating System OS indepth knowledge OS installation and upgrade, CLI syntax. Experience of network equipment installation, configuration and testing. Ability to communicate verbally and in writing on network portfolio solutions and services in a comprehensible way. Ability to translate IT jargon into customer business terms. Demonstrated capability of technical authoring, and of creating and working with technical network diagrams Visio. Experience of working in and applying the above skills in highavailability, alwayson production environments, driven by high availability requirements. For supporting documentation tasks, experience is required with Microsoft Office Suite, including MSVisio. The variety of the tasks and the scope of the systems to be supported require a high degree of autonomy and good analytical skills. The key person shall be able to conduct all activities in an orderly and disciplined manner, shall be able to work calmly and correctly under stress and must be able to work with a minimum of supervision. The official languages are English and French. The working language for the position is English and therefore the key person must be able to work effectively in this language. Mission 2 positions Scheduling support for the Geostationary Satellite Programme GEO Division Scheduler1 The Key Person will be integrated within the PRS Division into the Project Planning and Control PPC Team for GEO Programmes. The general task of the Key Person will be to assist the PRS PPC Team in the implementation and maintenance of the GEO Programmes schedules and related scheduling and reporting processes. It is foreseen, that the detailed tasks of the Key Person will include as a minimum Establish, monitor and control the GEO Programmes Schedules, based on inputs from the programme technical teams i.e. System, Ground Segment, Space Segment, including activities, inputs outputs and associated resources Elaborate and maintain multilayered programme schedules, based on first level schedule used for management coordination and reporting, level two schedules indicating the main programme elements activities and interdependencies, level three schedules used by engineering teams to detail their own work.
