T-Mobile NL to activate NB-IoT in the big cities

(Telecompaper) T-Mobile Netherlands will this week activate its Internet-of-Things network in a number of cities. From next week, the NB-IoT network will be available in Amsterdam, Rotterdam, The Hague, Eindhoven and in the area around Schiphol. More locations will follow next month and next year, with nationwide coverage in the course of 2017. T-Mobile NL claims to be the first to roll out NB-IoT on such a large scale.

T-Mobile NL lauches 4G for Home as alternative to fixed line

(Telecompaper) T-Mobile Netherlands has launched '4G voor Thuis' (4G for Home), which it is touting as an alternative to landline internet. The service provides internet via a 4G modem, which transforms the 4G signal into a Wi-Fi one that can be used to simultaneously connect 32 devices. With the service, the operator is targeting households that suffer from slow or unstable landline internet. 4G for Home is available with three different internet bundles: 25 GB, 50 GB, and 100 GB, for EUR 30, EUR 40 and EUR 50 respectively, so that users can determine which data plan best suits their needs.The subscription can be adjusted up or down every month, or temporarily paused. It can be canceled at the end of any month. Customers will be able to try 4G for Home for one month without obligation. Customers with an internet bundle of 50 GB or 100 GB will be able to use unlimited internet every night from midnight to 6.00 am, without using any data from their monthly internet bundle.

Dutch pass strict net neutrality law, T-Mobile plans appeal

(Telecompaper) The Dutch Senate has approved legislation implementing the EU regulation on net neutrality and the end to roaming surcharges. The legislation amending the Telecommunications Act was already approved by the lower house of parliament in May and will take effect after its publication in the official journal. The law has already raised opposition, as T-Mobile said it plans a court appeal and industry association GSMA said the Dutch law goes "far beyond the intent of the EU Regulation".
