US apparel imports have been relatively flat in the first quarter with China however rebounding thanks to a new fall of its unit prices. Other origins have got very different results depending on product categories as usual, with a rise of unit values resulting in lower sales in volume terms. Our series of statistical tables offer a comprehensive comparison of volume, value and unit value changes per origin and product category in 1st quarter 2017 and 1st quarter 2018. The report also includes a detailed comparison of Chinese price trends vs other origins, through a series of indexes. Unit value changes in percentage terms and market shares per category and per origin are also released. Our full table is available for download.
Bangladesh to implement industrial safety unit?

The Government of Bangladesh is understood to have initiated a move to set up an industrial safety unit with the aim of ensuring safe working conditions across all industrial sectors, including garment manufacturing.

New skills initiative to boost Bangladesh growth
