A U.S. Customs and Border Patrol helicopter crew fired warning shots at a panga boat crewed by three men who were suspected of smuggling marijuana, the agency reported today. The shots were fired during a pursuit that began around 10 p.m. Saturday in the waters near La Jolla.

ASTM F3070, Guide for Evaluating Area Search Dog Crews or Teams, will define knowledge, skills, and abilities required for dog crew or team to perform area search. Search and rescue dog teams are currently tested to different levels yet similar terminology is used to describe abilities of dogs. Using F3070 will help in developing testing paradigms that better identify core competencies and unify various search and rescue organizations under terminology that is based on single national standard.
