Beeline expects Russian mobile market to contract

(Telecompaper) Russian mobile operator Vimpelcom, working under the Beeline brand, has issued a study on the Russian mobile market. The operator expects that the market could contract by 0.3 percent this year. The decline is also expected to continue during the next two years. Mobile market penetration currently totals 180 percent in Russia. Mobile service prices have been under pressure due to harsh competition, Beeline said.

Euroset could be divided between Beeline, Megafon - report

(Telecompaper) Russian mobile operators Megafon and Vimpelcom, working under the Beeline brand, are in talks about dividing the business of mobile retail chain Euroset, reports Vedomosti citing three independent unspecified sources. Both operators own 50 percent stakes in Euroset. No final decision has yet been taken, though one could soon be announced.

Beeline, Megafon to jointly develop LTE networks

(Telecompaper) Russian mobile operators Beeline and Megafon have signed an agreement to jointly develop and operate LTE networks, with new base stations supporting LTE to be deployed in 10 regions. Construction and operation costs will be divided between the two companies. The launch of the network is scheduled for the second quarter of the year.

Beeline, MTS expand LTE network-sharing agreement

(Telecompaper) Russian mobile operators Beeline and MTS have agreed on the shared use of spectrum to develop their LTE networks in another 20 regions across the country. MTS and Beeline signed a supplementary agreement to their existing cooperation from 2014 on the deployment of LTE networks, adding the 2,600 MHz band for providing LTE services in 20 regions. The list includes the Kaluga, Omsk, Khabarovsk, Pskov, Vologda, Yaroslavl, Murmansk, Nizhniy-Novgorod, Kaliningrad, Oryol, Sakhalin, Tula and Orenburg regions, as well as Ingushetia, Karachay-Cherkessia, Chechnya, Kabarda-Balkaria, Mordovia, Altay and Chuvashia republics. The amendment allows for further expansion of the region list for the shared use of frequencies. The agreement will run for six years and may be extended.
