As part of the Engineering Solutions team, you are responsible for providing operational and project based IT support to engineering communities based in the UK with backgrounds in product design and analysis, electronics and electrical tools, simulation, systems and software engineering. You troubleshoot, respond to enquiries and find solutions to technical challenges. Beyond the daytoday, you lead or participate in key engineering projects and contribute to the documentation efforts. You are highly technical and are comfortable with problem solving in multiple operating systems Windows and Linux variants and a range of devices including desktopslaptops, servers. You occasionally partner with various peer teams including security, networks and infrastructure, as well as other engineering teams in Europe. The successful candidate will be subject to UK National Security Clearance in order to undertake related work in accordance with business needs. Your main tasks and responsibilities will include Lead infrastructure and software projects and coordinate the necessary technical deliveries in partnership with peer teams in IT. Managecoordinate the delivery of key IT services for engineering groups. Provide direct user support and administration for engineering tools deployment and licensing on Linux and Windows clients. Manage the configuration and deployment of workstations and servers to meet the needs of various engineering groups. Assist in the design and management of specific development networks. Support complex server equipment for managing both physical and virtual resources. Work with vendors and technical support organisations to coordinate troubleshooting process for all hardware and software related issues in a timely manner. Support the procurement process and use of internal tools for hardware and software acquisition as required. Maintain systems to current IT security standards including patching and hardening tasks. This role will involve some travel for business and as such you must be able to travel accordingly. We are looking for candidates with the following skills and experience Essential skills BABS Degree in a technical field Experience of working in a project environment in IT Prior experience of requirements capture and project planning. Experience in using Linux systems including SSH, LDAP, Kerberos, NFS, NTP. Understanding of LANWAN networks. Sound understanding of good security practice and configuration. Experience in LinuxWindows integration. Desirable skills Expertise in deploying and supporting engineering workstations and servers. Development or use of relational databases including SQL. Basic scripting e.g.BASH, PERL, PowerShell. Understanding of virtualisation technologies VMware, Citrix. Experience in using AIX systems. Ability to adjust quickly to changing priorities and make quick decisions with limited information. Project or work package management for technical deliveries in IT. Ground Stations Operations Engineering Consultancy Support

The Key Person will support the Ground Stations and External Interfaces GSEI team within the RSO division and shall support the daily operations of the Ground Stations and their interfaces to the other components of the ground segments to ensure their maximum availability and reliability. This role will focus on the ground stations supporting EUMETSATs low Earth orbiting LEO satellites EPS, EPSSG and JCS but the engineer will also be expected to support the geostationary orbit GEO stations when required. In addition, the Key Person will be expected to acquire and maintain Systemwide knowledge of the Ground Segments, particularly in the areas of spacecraft monitoring control and the flow of mission data, due to the central role the ground station plays in spacecraft and ground segment operations. The tasks will include Longterm planning and shortterm scheduling of the operational usage of the ground stations to support both the needs of the Flight Operations Division FLO and Ground Stations engineering team Interface with project teams for the implementation of system upgrades to support major operations projects and major activities described in the Operational System MidTerm Evolution Plan. This will include ground station changes required to support major space segment evolutions Interfacing with the ground stations maintenance teams and industry representatives to ensure optimised performance by the ground stations, including participating in the definition, specification and implementation of any changes Planning and coordination of upgrades, repairs and evolutions with the engineering teams and FLO division Organising the validation of these upgrades, repairs and evolutions with the Controller Teams Definition and maintenance of ground station operations procedures and operations guides Maintaining operational ground stations databases Investigation into anomalies, their documentation, classification and correctionmitigation, participation in associated Anomaly Review Boards Provision of training, through production and presentation of written materials, practical demonstrations and presentations, to other members of the Operations Department PROFILE In addition to having a university degree in a relevant technical discipline or the equivalent ground stations experience, the Key Person shall have the following mandatory attributes at least five years experience in ground stations TTC operations in support of multiple Low Earth Orbit LEO andor Geostationary GEO spacecraft at least five years experience in a realtime 247 spacecraft operations environment, ideally in an earth observation environment excellent interpersonal and coordination skills Experience of the following would be a distinct advantage major upgrades or evolutions of operational ground stations defining and implementing the verification and validation of ground stations interfaces between ground stations and ground segments firstline hardware and software failure diagnosis and correction baseband operation and configuration The official languages of EUMETSAT are English and French. The working language for the position is English and therefore the Engineer must be able to work effectively in this language and have knowledge of the other. The Key Person will support the RSO division but shall initially provide support to the PRD department for the development and operations preparation of the MTG Programme focussing on system and ground station aspects, ensuring they are brought to a suitable level for the transition of the programme into routine operations. The role comprises a range of tasks across a number of different departments within our customer so the Key Person will need a broad knowledge of operational ground segments and how the ground stations fit into the general scheme. The Key Person shall also support the routine operations of the existing MTP, MSG and EPS ground stations, as well as their future evolutions. The Key Persons main duties will include the support to System and Ground segment operations preparation activities Ground segment procurements for the future programmes including acceptance and validation phase Review documentation and attend formal reviews as part of the procurement process Supporting and witnessing IVV testing for future programmes Definition and maintenance of operations procedures, including system and ground segment procedures and operations guides Liaison with the spacecraft operations team to ensure the continuity and optimisation of spacecraft monitoring and control activities Day to day operations of current and future ground stations including daytoday planning, monitoring and first line anomaly investigations Processing and coordination of system and ground segment anomalies in particular but not limited to ground stations , their documentation, investigation, classification and resolutionmitigation, including participation in Anomaly Review Boards Analysis of ground station obsolescence, and upgrade paths within a 247 operations environment Participation in technical meetings, formal reviews, and scheduling and planning meetings Provision of training, through written materials, practical demonstrations and presentations, to other members of the Operations and Engineering Teams. PROFILE In addition to having a university degree in a relevant technical discipline or the equivalent work experience, the Key Person shall have the following mandatory attributes at least three years experience in a realtime spacecraft operations environment at least three years experience in the routine operations of satellites preferably in an earth observation environment experience of the preparation and use of operational procedures, databases, displays and documentation Experience of the following would be a distinct advantage experience in the operations preparation and routine operations of Geostationary GEO andor Low Earth Orbit LEO satellite systems experience in the procurement phase of ground segments for satellite monitoring and control and mission data reception, ideally in the Earth Observation domain experience of document management and configuration control processes experience of development and upgrades within a 247 operations environment experience in defining user interfaces for operations HMI, reports etc. The official languages of our customer are English and French.
