Holiday train to stop at Union Depot in St. Paul

A train covered in holiday lights and carrying musicians will make a stop Friday at St. Paul 's Union Depot and several other spots around the Twin Cities this week, with a goal of gathering food and donations for those in need. In an annual holiday event, Canadian Pacific Railway sends the railcars across the U.S. and Canada, encouraging people to attend the free boxcar-based concerts and festivities, and to bring donations of nonperishable food or cash.

Northern Illinois Food Bank and Canadian Pacific are proud to announce the 2014 Holiday Train will be riding the rails to raise money and awareness about hunger issues in Gurnee on Dec. 7. This year, the Holiday Train Festival is set to begin at 2:45 p.m. at Viking Park, with the 'train of lights' arriving in Gurnee at 3:45 p.m. to raise money, food and awareness for the Food Bank. The Gurnee stop is one of about 150 communities that are part of this year's journey by the two Holiday Trains making their way across Canada and the United States.
