Disney sells 21 regional sports networks to Sinclair in deal valued at USD 10.6 bln

(Telecompaper) Disney said it has sold the 21 regional sports networks it acquired at the time it bought 21st Century Fox to the Sinclair Broadcast Group, for a total value of USD 10.6 billion. The total price reflects a purchase price of USD 9.6 billion and adjustments for minority equity interests. The deal will complete after receiving the usual closing conditions, including the approval of the US Department of Justice. It has been unanimously approved by the voard of directors of both Sinclair and Disney.

Mitel makes USD 2.2-2.4 bln bid for Avaya - report

(Telecompaper) Mitel has made an offer for Avaya at USD 20-22 per share, or USD 2.2-2.4 billion, the Wall Street Journal reported, citing sources familiar with the matter. The deal could be announced next month, but could also not work out, the sources added. A combined company could better compete with Cisco, the report added.
Hulu buys back AT&T's 9.5% stake for USD 1.43 bln

(Telecompaper) AT&T has sold its 9.5 percent minority stake in Hulu back to the US online TV service for USD 1.43 billion. The transaction values Hulu at USD 15 billion. The transaction will not require any approval, which means it was signed and closed. Hulu CEO Randy Freer said the company looked forward to collaborating still with AT&T in the future and that WarnerMedia will remain a "valued partner" for years to come. AT&T meanwhile said it will use the money raised from the sale, along with other planned sales of non-core assets, to reduce its debt.
German 5G auction passes EUR 5 bln in bids

(Telecompaper) The German Federal Network Agency said that EUR 5.06 billion was offered by the four bidders in the 170th round of the 5G spectrum auction. The bids for the 2.0 GHz band reached a total of EUR 2.06 billion and the bids for the 3.6 GHz band reached EUR 2.65 billion.
Canada raises CAD 3.5 bln in 600 MHz auction, Rogers top bidder

(Telecompaper) Canada has raised CAD 3.47 billion from the auction of licences in the 600 MHz band for mobile services. In total, 104 licences were awarded to nine Canadian companies, including 40 licences to regional providers, covering the entire country.
