China Tower files for Hong Kong IPO worth possible USD 10 bln

(Telecompaper) China Tower, a mobile infrastructure operator owned by the state, has filed for an initial public offering of shares in Hong Kong. China Mobile has a 38 percent stake in China Tower, with China Unicom and China Telecom each holding around 28 percent and China Reform Holdings, a state-owned investment fund, owning 6 percent. The three carriers pay leasing fees to use China Tower's facilities.

(Telecompaper) Vodacom Group's revenue grew 6.3 percent to ZAR 86.4 billion in the year ended 31 March, while normalised growth, excluding currency translation effects, was 7.8 percent. Group service revenue increased 3.4 percent to ZAR 70.6 billion and was up 5.1 percent on an adjusted basis. Net profit rose 18.6 percent to ZAR 15.56 billion, boosted by the Safaricom acquisition and a profit from the sale of Helios Towers Tanzania.
Vodafone agrees EUR 18.4 bln takeover of Liberty Global assets in Germany, East Europe

(Telecompaper) Vodafone Group has agreed to buy Liberty Global's cable business in Germany, Hungary, Romania and Czech Republic for EUR 18.4 billion. The acquisition will help further its fixed-mobile strategy, allowing Vodafone to rival Deutsche Telekom for network coverage in Germany and start a converged strategy in the three eastern European countries, where it's already active in the mobile market.
Apple raises dividend, plans USD 100 bln share buyback after solid Q1 results

(Telecompaper) Apple announced a 16 percent increase in its dividend and plans to spend another USD 100 billion buying back shares, after reporting results for the March quarter in line with expectations. The company's revenues for its fiscal second quarter rose 16 percent year-on-year to USD 61.14 billion, and earnings were up 30 percent to USD 2.73 per share.

(Telecompaper) Facebook reported a strong increase in sales and earnings in the first quarter, with growth rates accelerating from the previous quarter. Revenues rose 49 percent year-on-year to USD 11.97 billion, and net profit was up 63 percent to USD 4.99 billion or USD 1.69 per share.
