Hazel Park gets $2 million cleanup loan for landfill site near raceway

With a developer promising a $26 million investment near the Hazel Park Raceway, the Michigan Department of Environmental Quality has approved a $2 million loan for the city to clean up a former landfill. The funds will go toward "environmental response activities and a vapor mitigation system at the former landfill," the MDEQ announced Wednesday.

Guardian: A 41-year old man has become the first worker at the Fukushima Daiichi nuclear power plant to be diagnosed with cancer that officials recognise as being linked to his work there after the March 2011 disaster. The unnamed man, who was diagnosed with leukaemia in January 2014 after feeling unwell, spent a year working on reactor buildings that were badly damaged after a magnitude 9 earthquake triggered a tsunami that struck Fukushima and other parts of Japans north-east coast on 11 March 2011....
