BES is conducting public review on its 2014 Code and Rule Cleanup package. There was no request for a public hearing on this proposal and the tentative public hearing scheduled for Wednesday October 15th is canceled. The public comment period is still open until 5:00 p.m. on Monday October 27th.

DNR gives La Crosse $250,000 for cleanup project

The Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources has given the City of La Crosse $250,000 to cleanup a former manufacturing site. The money from the DNR's Ready for Reuse Program will pay for the removal and disposal of contamination generated from a pre-World War II rubber mill that later became LaCrosse Footwear.

NCR Corp. gets $93 million for Fox River cleanup costs

Four companies, including Appleton's Appvion Inc., have agreed to pay NCR Corp. a total of $93 million for costs NCR incurred to clean up the Fox River in Wisconsin from April 2012 through Oct. 1, 2014. Details were included in a regulatory filing from Paperweight Development Corp., the Appleton-based parent company of Appvion Inc. Under the agreement, Appvion, which is the former Appleton Papers Inc., agreed to pay $6 million.
