EU's clothing imports have rebounded in September in volume and euro terms, whereas slightly increasing in dollar terms. Chinese shipments have stayed very depressed, with Bangladesh unable to take advantage of the fall of Chinese market shares. Our report covers monthly EU clothing import data, with historical trends being analyzed, and a specific focus on China vs. Rest of World (RoW) and Bangladesh, and on knit vs. woven clothing. Data are supplied in euros and US dollars with historical data available for download, back to January 2000.

Gross margins of polyester spinners have improved in the first half of November in India and Pakistan, thanks to a significant fall of PSF prices in both countries. The yarn/fiber spread has moved differently in China. Our monthly report compares polyester staple fiber prices and polyester spun yarn prices in China, India, and Pakistan, in both local currency terms and US$ terms. US apparel imports from China have plunged in September after additional tariffs have been imposed by Washington. Vietnam, but also Cambodia, have benefited from a shift in US demand, whereas Bangladesh struggled, by contrast, as reflected by our data of September imports per origin, in volume and value terms. Our monthly review covers US apparel import data, with historical trends being analyzed over the 2000-2019 period, including cotton vs. man-made fiber apparel, and China vs. Vietnam and the Rest of the World (RoW). Import data are available per origin in the latest month under review, and the year-to-date, in volume, value, and unit value terms.
