Wi-Fi Alliance reaches for peace over unlicensed LTE

A Wi-Fi Alliance workshop next month could start to lay the groundwork for peace between Wi-Fi and LTE promoters who have been arguing over potential interference. If LTE and Wi-Fi can operate peacefully in unlicensed spectrum, mobile users should be able to get a better experience in in crowded areas whether they are using their carrier's service or a Wi-Fi hotspot.

Deutsche Telekom picks Alcatel-Lucent for LTE flight service

(Telecompaper) Alcatel-Lucent has signed a contract with Deutsche Telekom to deliver an LTE ground network which communicates with aeroplanes and complements satellite services from Inmarsat, in order to meet rapidly evolving demand for broadband data connectivity on European flights. The European Aviation Network (EAN) will consist of an LTE ground network component, provided by Alcatel-Lucent, using its specially adapted radios and IP Mobile Core, combined with a satellite network component.

Compatible with the native Mobile Broadband Interface Model (MBIM) in Windows 10, embedded Snapdragon LTE modems are designed to provide similar mobility experiences on PCs that are found in smartphones. Enterprise users are now increasingly using embedded LTE and location capabilities to enhance security and productivity with new flexible data plans that enable remote data wipe, sponsored connectivity, and pay-as-you-go mobile
