Given the failed buyout attempts being made by Canadian Pacific for Norfolk Southern, it may be very tempting to buy the former while shorting the latter. Traditionally, this makes sense and could provide short-term benefits to investors if a deal falls through but I'd much prefer going long Norfolk right now.
