Pleasant Hill: City's first car dealer coming to DVC Plaza shopping center

The city may get its first auto dealer as part of a major renovation planned for the moribund DVC Plaza shopping center. Merlone Geier Partners, a real estate investment firm that owns the property, is working on a deal with an undisclosed company to build a car dealership on the site of the former Kmart building, which would be demolished along with the McDonald's restaurant.

The grand reopening on April 7 for Whole Foods Market in Mount Pleasant will include a free shrimp-and-grits breakfast at 8 a.m., spinning the market's wheel for prizes at 8:30 a.m., a cornbread breaking at 8:45 a.m. and opening for business at 9 a.m. The store at 923 Houston Northcutt Blvd. will feature specials and activities throughout the day, including wine and cheese tastings, local brewers on site with $10 growlers, cake decorating demonstrations, champagne toasts and more. “We're excited to show the community our new and better-than-ever store”, said Pam Fischette, the store's marketing director.
