Frequency of WiFi usage outside home
2013-01-09 10:26:00| Telecompaper Reports
This chart shows how often consumers (12-80 yrs ) used a WiFi connection in the last six months, somewhere else than at home. The frequencies in the chart are divided by whether or not consumers paid for the connection and if they had to enter a password. The chart compares data from March 2011 (n=697) and December 2012 (n=1592). Respondents had to answer how often they accessed a WiFi connection. The answer to how they accessed the WiFi connection was retrieved from an earlier question in the survey. Answers included free of charge without a password, free of charge with a password, free of charge with (mobile) internet subscription, paid for temporary access and paid subscription. Few respondents choose the option paid subscription (n=19); these results have been excluded. People could answer with 'Several times a day', 'Daily', 'Several times a week', 'Weekly', 'Several times a month', 'Monthly', 'Less than once a month'. Source: Telecompaper Consumer Panel.

Wifi usage outside home
2013-01-09 10:16:00| Telecompaper Reports
This chart shows the WiFi usage of Dutch consumers (12-80 yrs) outside of their home. It displays not only if a consumer used a WiFi connection elsewhere than at home, but also the type of connection used (paid or free; with or without a password). The chart compares data from May 2011, December 2011 and December 2012. In addition, the data for December 2012 is split for different age groups. The first part of the question asked was: "Did you use Wi-Fi at other locations than your home (such as at friends or via public hotspots) in the past six months? This could be over your mobile phone, laptop, tablet, iPod, etc. Public hotspots are places with access to Wi-Fi. This can be at a hotel or restaurant or in a train." The second part of the question was: "Did you pay for the access or did you receive a password?" People could answer with: 'No, I have not used WiFi (else than home)', 'Yes, I have used free Wifi after entering a password I received on the spot (e.g. with friends or in a hotel)', 'Yes, I have used free Wifi without entering a password', 'Yes, I have used Wifi and paid for temporary access ', 'Yes, I have used free Wifi after entering a password I received associated with my fixed or mobile data subcription', 'Yes, I have used Wifi and paid via a subcription for hotspots access'. Don't know" answers have been excluded from the graph. Source: Telecompaper Consumer Panel. The survey data is from May 2011 (n=2,380), December 2011 (n=2,3240) and December 2012 (n=1,934). The data for December 2012 is split for different age groups.
