GALILEO Systems Operations ICT Engineer

This is an opportunity for an experienced Engineer to work in the domain of satellite operations. The engineer will be assigned to the Galileo Operations Procurement Service Division under the direct authority of the Head of the Galileo Ground Infrastructure Operations Section. Heshe will ensure that the ground ICT infrastructure and in particular the Galileo Data Dissemination Networks GDDN and EDDN is operationally consistent with project requirements to deliver Galileo Navigation Services reliably and sustainably. The position is unlimited and fulltime. The Engineer will work fully on customer side in ESOC, Darmstadt, Germany. Submission deadline for applicants will be 30.10.2015. Starting date of the position will be 01.01.2016. RESPONSIBILITIESDUTIES Support the development and implementation of the ICT operation concept for the Galileo systems Contribute to the procurement of the Galileo GDDN and EDDNs, by updating the requirements in response to the Galileo System Level Requirements to the evaluation of the technical offers and potential negotiations Ensure the compliance of the GDDN and EDDN with the project requirements by following the validation and qualification of the services as well as the successful transition to operations of the new communication links, meeting timely availability in line with the project development requirements Monitor the provision of the GDDN and EDDN services as defined by applicable SLAs, following the progress of the implementation of new requirements, monitoring the anomalies resolution, and evaluating the service performance Lead the coordination of the validation, operations, maintenance and endtoend communication systems of the Galileo Ground Segments in close coordination with the network equipment providers Follow up the development of the Ground Segment ICT, providing the required operations inputs for design, deployment and integration up to support to acceptance Ensure followup of any problems in any of the ICT systems in use, detected during infrastructure operation and validation at GCCs, through to disposition and together with the relevant Segments as required resolution Contribute to the definition of the data network concept and related Ground operations of the Galileo Second Generation, including Operations Concepts, Operations Requirements and Operational Service documents. Provide technical support to the procurement of the Galileo Segments and System within the domain of expertise as required. QUALIFICATIONSEXPERIENCE University degree or equivalent education in Electric or Electronic Engineering, Aerospace Engineering or Telecommunications Engineering. Significant experience in position for communications engineering, system integration and validation, with some experience in management tasks. A proven experience in in a commercialindustrial environment is required. Experience related to developments in the Galileo project GIOVE, IOV, FOC will be considered an asset In view of the complex interaction with numerous entities, candidates should have good communication skills and the capability to manage complex and potentially stressful tasks. Good practical and analytical skills are also required. ESSENTIAL SKILLS Significant experience in position for communications engineering, system integration and validation Familiar with Spacecraft and Ground Segment subsystem knowledge Fluency in English, both in speech and writing Able to carry on activities and interact in a complex teamwork environment.
