The Challenge We are looking for a spacecraft operations engineer to join the flight control team in Darmstadt, supporting the launch and early orbit phase operations for the Galileo spacecraft. In addition to background in spacecraft operations, the engineer should bring special knowledge of onboard data handling, onboard software management as well as telemetry, telecommand and communications subsystems. This is a fulltime position with a planned starting date in mid of July 2014. Your Qualifications Applicants shall have a university degree in aerospace engineering, related subject or equivalent experience. LSE Space is looking for an Engineer mf fulfilling the task of Spacecraft Operations Engineering to support the Galileo Project at ESOC in Darmstadt. The position will be part of the GALILEO ESOC Flight Control Team. The primary areas of responsibility for this service are Data Handling, TTC OBSM. The Galileo LEOP operations preparation and execution will be carried out by a Flight Control Team comprising CNES and ESOC engineers. The plan is for LEOPs to take place either at ESOC Darmstadt or CNES Toulouse, with the complete team involved in each LEOP preparation and partial team taking part in the LEOP at each site. The incumbent will support and closely cooperate with the SOM during the prelaunch operations preparation, ops products validation and the LEOP execution phases of Galileo IOC missions. The responsibilities of the DHSTTC OBSM SOE include in particular Data Handling, TTC, onboard software and OBSM operations engineer Close interaction and working with the other Galileo LEOP SOEs, based at ESOC and CNES Review of documentation produced by the Galileo spacecraft manufacturer SSEG Review of the procedures created by SSEG Review of the procedures created by OPS Development of LEOP specific nominal and contingency recovery operating procedures using the MOIS tools Providing specialist subsystem advice on the development and content of the Operational Database Development of tools to manage the Data Handling and TTC subsystems during LEOP in particular ANDs, GRDs, mimics and offline tools Validation of procedures using the Galileo Constellation Simulator CSIM and the Galileo LEOP specific SCOS2000 based control system LSCCF Preparation for and participation in the SCTCs SVTs. This will also involve the preparation of SCTC specific procedures and the writing of SCTC reports Identification, recording, investigation and progression of spacecraft and groundbased anomalies during the SCTCs, simulations campaign and LEOP Preparation for and participation in the simulations campaign Assistance to the simulations officer to provided specialist subsystem knowledge for the simulations campaign. Participation in the LEOP. This will involve shiftworking to provide 24 hour support to the spacecraft Support Handover and postLEOP activities, including contribution to the LEOP report.
