The tasks of the successful candidate will typically include Support to the routine operations of Metop A, B and preparing for MetopC, comprising Provision of operational expertise to one or more platform subsystems andor payload instruments Maintain the corresponding operations documentation and flight procedures, including the update and operational validation of procedures releases in a configuration controlled environment Perform trending and performance analysis on the corresponding subsystems and instruments, including definition and possibly prototyping of additional analysis checks where necessary Investigations into satellite anomalies. In addition to having a University degree or equivalent in a relevant discipline, the successful candidate should have a demonstrated experience in one or more of the following Spacecraft monitor and control operations Spacecraft operations preparation engineering Low Earth Orbit spacecraft design or Assembly Integration and Test activities at system or subsystem level. The below experience will be an advantage Inorbit operations of Low Earth Orbit Earth Observation satellites Experience in the operation or development of satellite ground segment facilities, in particular procedure development, monitor and control, mission planning, onboard software management, performance analysis, configuration management and simulator facilities. Specification of system and operational concepts, facility requirements Familiarity with system change control and configuration management procedures. Data analysis software packages such as MATLAB. File parsing languages such as PERL, AWK. Use of VBA for development of adhoc tools in MS Office applications. The candidate will be selfmotivated and able to work in an organised and efficient manner with minimum supervision. Strong data analysis, processing and synthesis skills are essential and an ability to recognise opportunities for improvements in areas of work and implement appropriate solutions is highly desirable. The working language for the position is English and therefore the key person must be able to work effectively in this language and have a knowledge of the other. Good communication skills would be also an advantage.

Metop Spacecraft Operations Engineer

For our activities in EUMETSAT, we are currently seeking a Metop Spacecraft Operations Engineer SOE to work as part of the routine operations phase of EPS, including preparatory activities for MetopC and systemoperations preparation phase of EPSSG. Tasks The SOE shall work in the Operations and User Services Department as a member of the Metop Spacecraft Operations Team. Heshe shall be trained to provide operations expertise and support to one or more platform subsystems andor payload instruments, depending on hisher experience and the overall team needs. They shall also participate in coordinating the satellite operations activities of other team members and external teams responsible for onboard software management, simulator support, mission control, mission planning, flight dynamics and ground stations. Furthermore, the SOE shall support system and operations preparation activities for MetopC, for Metop Second Generation satellites and possibly also for Sentinel3 and JasonCS. The SOE shall be required to support operations during normal working hours, as well as support the oncall operations engineer rota, such that safe and efficient operations are ensured by the Spacecraft Operations Team on a 247 basis.
