For our Location in Darmstadt, Germany we are looking for a Mission Control Operations Engineers to work at EUMETSAT. Tasks This position is for 2 Mission Control Operations Engineers required to operate EUMETSATs operational systems and the preparation of future missions, with particular focus on mission control systems. 1 role providing service to the MTG Mission Operations Facility MOF team within the GEO division. 1 role equallydivided between support for the MSG programme routine operations and support to the MTG programme development and operations preparation activities. One role shall provide service to the system development and operations preparation of the MTG Mission Operations Facility performed within GEO division. The service shall be provided in coordination with the relevant spacecraft and system operations and development teams and shall comprise a range of tasks for the MTG programme, including contribution to the design and development of the MTG Mission Operations Facility, related Subsystems and interfaces, in particular with a focus on the Mission Operations Facility operability The definition and development of operational concepts compatible with the Mission Operations Facility design and the MTGspecific Packet Utilisation Services PUS The refinement of the MTG mission operations concept in relation to the Mission Operations Facility and its implementation in the Reference Operations Plan and System Operations File, including related documents and procedures, databases, etc The definition of MTG mission operations data items including displays, operations procedures, operational databases, operations guides, etc The definition and implementation of Mission Operations Facility operational interfaces The definition and implementation of Mission Operations Facility subsystem acceptance and MOF system integration testing, in particular with focus on operationallyrelevant validation test scenarios The execution of Mission Operations Facility system verification and validation activities The definition and implementation of MTG Ground Segment system verification and validation activities, including formal system operational scenario validation, SVTs, and operations rehearsals The execution of MTG System, MTG Ground Segment, MOF system and subsystem reviews, technical meetings, and scheduling and planning meetings The review and implementation of planned changes to the system configuration The review, disposition and resolution of system anomalies When applicable for specific prelaunch testing and postlaunch operations, the provision of oncall support as part of a team ofMCS engineers. 1 role shall provide service in two parts, equally divided between routine operations of the MSG programme and the development and operations preparation activities of the MTG programme as defined for the first FTE. The service shall be provided in coordination with the relevant spacecraft and system operations and maintenance teams and shall comprise a range of tasks for the MSG programme, including contribution to The maintenance of MSG Central Facility CF mission operations data items including displays, operations procedures, operational databases, operations guides, etc The maintenance ofMSG Central Facility CF operational interfaces The definition, operational validation and deployment of MSG Central Facility CF and System evolutions The recording, investigation and resolution ofMSG CF and System anomalies The periodic operational activation of the MSG Backup Spacecraft Control Centre BSCC The provision of oncall support to routine operations as part of a team of MCS engineers. Essential requirements In addition to having a university degree or equivalent in a relevant technical discipline, the key persons shall have the following mandatory attributes At least three years experience in the operations preparation and routine operations of spacecraft mission control systems for Geostationary GEO andor Low Earth Orbit LEO satellite systems At least two years experience defining and implementing the verification and validation of spacecraft mission control systems At least two years experience operating a spacecraft mission control system based on SCOS2000 At least two years experience with the application of ECSS and CCSDS standards for spacetoground interfaces, Satellite Monitoring Control Systems Packet Telemetry and Telecommand standards, PUS Packet Utilisation Standard, etc. Desirable requirements Experience of the following would be a distinct advantage Extensive experience in the use of databases and SQLrelated querying in relation to spacecraft mission control systems Experience using configuration management systems such as CVSSVN and I or GIT Experience using satellite simulators Familiarity with flight dynamics and mission planning functions and systems as applied to satellite operations. Overview The Payload and Spacecraft Design Engineer will be part of the FLEXMission Engineering section and report to the Mission EngineeringManager. Heshe will be responsible for Managing and monitoring all aspects of the FLEX instrument and platform design and implementation relating to electronics and avionics hardware disciplines. Harmonising the activities of the specialist support in electronics and avionics hardware disciplines electrical power and EMC, RF, etc.. Definition of electronics and avionics hardware requirements as part of the ESA Space Segment Requirements and evaluating the satellite prime design and development plans. Definition and maintenance of electrical and data interfaces data busses and communication protocols between the platform and the instrument. Definition and maintenance of the EMC requirements for the instrument and the satellite, using support from appointed power and EMC engineer. Ensuring a consistent and coherent approach is applied at all levels of the instrument and satellite industrial consortium to the specification, design and implementation of all electronics and avionics hardware, to be compliant with the specified ESA requirements and standards. Coordinating the procurement process for all instrument and platform subsystems and equipment relating to electronics and avionics hardware aspects, including review of procurement documentation, evaluation of offers and participation in industrial negotiations. Monitoring the industrial progress and design evolution at instrument and platform subsystem and equipment levels, ensuring it remains consistent with FLEX technical and programmatic requirements. Contribute to the definition of the instrument and satellite Electrical Ground Support Equipment, and to support the relevant procurement activities. Providing early warning of potential problem areas and ensure appropriate mitigation actions are identified and implemented. Supporting formal Project Reviews, coordinating all electronics and avionics hardware aspects. Supporting the instrument team in the definition, planning and execution of rigorous electrical Verification and AIT plans at instrument level. Contribute to the satellite Verification planning and execution related to all electronics and avionics hardware aspects. Specific qualification requirements University degree MSc. in a relevant Engineering discipline. Experience in the design and implementation of instrument and satellite platform electronics and avionics including related GSE. Experience in the procurement process of onboard hardware components. Experience in the planning and execution of electrical verification and AIT at unit and satellite level. Ability to work autonomously, effectively and cooperatively in a diverse and international team environment. Ability to coordinate specialist support from the Directorate of Technology, Engineering and Quality Proficient in the English language spoken and written. Description For our client, the European Space Agency, RHEA is recruiting a Mission Geopphysicist to work on the Cryosat 2 Mission. You will work closely with the Mission Manager providing quality and scientific support to the CryoSat mission, with an emphasis on the performance and quality of the SIRAL instrument and products. CryoSat is the Earth Explorer radar altimeter mission of the European Space Agency whose main goal is to provide the scientific community with accurate measurements of mass and thickness fluctuations in the Earths land and marine ice fields. Such measurements are of particular importance for the testing and verification of mesoscale and regional numerical models that include cryospheric components, and for improving our understanding and predictions of the impact of a changing climate on the cryosphere httpsearth.esa.intcryosat Tasks and Activities The scope of work will include Provide endtoend scientific assessment of the CryoSat geophysical products i.e. Level2 focusing mainly on sea ice and land ice fields Support investigation and troubleshooting related to the CryoSat geophysical products Provide scientific advice on the quality of the current processing algorithms and their evolution Support the assessment and analysis of the performance of the SIRAL instrument, including product verification, validation and calibration activities of the Cryosat mission Support the management and evolution of the scientific processors including their validation Assist the management of the Cryosat Quality Working Group and related scientific support Support CryoSat communication activities e.g. web stories, ESA publications, etc., contributing to the preparation of presentations and reports, including for international geophysical conferences EGU, AGU, etc. and workshops. Publication of scientific papers to be published on a peer review journal is highly encouraged Skills and Experience The following skills and experience are mandatory PhD or equivalent in Earth Sciences or Engineering with experience in the use and analysis of remote sensing satellites data especially altimetry. Experience with CryoSats geophysical data over seaice andor land ice is an asset. High level of selfmotivation and proactiveness, the capability to work effectively in a team with minimum supervision and have excellent communication and presentation skills. A very good knowledge of the English language, both oral and written is required. Experience in data processing and use of tools such MATLAB or IDL language for data analysis and visualisation.
