As part of its growth strategy the SCISYS Space Division is looking to recruit a software engineer for spacecraft mission control systems to be based at our Bristol office in the UK. About The Role As a team member of the Ground Systems Division you will contribute to the development, maintenance and validation of mission control systems used in the space domain and includes infrastructure development. You should be able to work to deadlines, have good interpersonal skills and be flexible as regards moving from project to project and in assimilating new technologies. Your tasks include Understanding of the requirements and the design of ground segment systems for given space missions Development of the detailed design using UML Implementation of the software and performance of unit testing Support integration and system testing Write and maintain software documentation Provide onsite support at the satellite operations control centre Essential Skills A degree in computer science, physics, mathematics or equivalent. Strong experience in software development and software engineering. C and Java programming languages Source Code Control System SVN or Git Development on Linux systems Basic Linux system administration, shell scripts, make, gcc, debugging Eclipse IDE Production of technical documentation Fluency in spoken and written English Willingness to travel to customer sites A valid work permit for the UK and the willingness to obtain security clearance Desirable Skills Experience with monitoring and control systems Preferably experience on development of MC systems based on SCOS 2000. Job description We are looking for experienced Software Engineers with strong competencies in related technologies, to join our team providing software maintenance and support for our customer, EUMETSAT, in Darmstadt, Germany. The team provides support for EUMETSATs Mission Performance and Monitoring Tool MPMT applications, a bespoke suite of applications developed by EUMETSAT for supporting their satellite mission operations. The MPMT applications monitor and report the performance of the services provided by the EUMETSAT missions. This performance monitoring is critical to operations and essential to reporting the status of services to end users of the product data. The MPMT tools work in nearreal time in a 247 operational environment. Responsibilities As part of our software maintenance and support team, you will be responsible for performing software maintenance and user support for the set of EUMETSAAT MPMT operational software applications CODEM Communication and DecisionMaker Software DAILY REPORT Periodic System Performance Reporting GEMS Generic Event Monitoring Software OSSI Operational Service Indicators SMART Service Monitoring and Reporting Tool UNS User Notification Service Maintenance activities include anomaly handling involving corrective, adaptive, and preventative maintenance, engineering changes implementation, and user support. The work follows a formal maintenance process lifecycle typical for highavailability 247 operational systems, covering requirements engineering, design, implementation, verification and validation, acceptance and deployment rollout, in close collaboration with the various EUMETSAT stakeholders. This is a full time position, located at Termas premises in Darmstadt, Germany, starting January 2018. We are recruiting for an engineer, based within the Flight Operations Division at our base in Darmstadt, Germany. In this role you will be responsible for the planning, supervision and execution of mission control systems operations for all Meteosat Second Generation missions, supporting the provision of associated operational services and participating in the operations preparation for the next generation Meteosat MTG system. In this challenging and professionally rewarding role you will conduct operations of ground systems for Meteosat mission control including planning of operations, anomaly handling and investigation. You will maintain the operations procedures, system databases and other operations tools and products used to support Meteosat mission control systems and contribute to the management of interdependent systems. Evaluation and trend analysis to monitor performance of current mission control systems will also form part of your role, as will coordination, maintenance and monitoring across all our operational systems. You will help manage evolutions of Meteosat mission control systems to increase capacity, performance and efficiency, and to eliminate obsolescence. Looking to the future, you will support the commissioning, operations preparation, and implementation of the Meteosat Third Generation system and participate in the reengineering of mission control systems and operations preparation for the launch and commissioning of recurrent MTG spacecraft.
