Tasks and Responsibilities The successful candidate will join the Control and Data Centres team, whose activities cover the development of ground control systems, controlling the experiments done on board of the International Space Station, and different future space crafts, as well as the development of space weather related systems. The relevant activity for this position is the development of mission control systems for future unmanned and manned spacecrafts. In this activity, the software will be developed in the team according to detailed requirements, while following space related standards. Analysis and implementation of mechanisms or tools allowing the automatic or semiautomatic verification testing of the application software. o Coordination of the production of new software releases or patches, delivery acceptance and installation onsite. This activity includes the technical coordination of the production by an external contractor of new releases or patches of the application software, liaison with the EUMETSAT operational users, participation in technical reviews, participation in factory at contractor premises acceptance testing campaigns and coordination of the installation of the releases or patches onsite at EUMETSAT. o Execution and coordination of software verification and nonregression testing campaigns. Participation in workshops and review meetings. o Interfacing with Operations to consolidate the operational concept in the Mission Planning System requirements. o Support the identification of the verification method and initial test cases for the Mission Planning System requirements. o Incorporate the reuse of the EUMETSAT Mission Planning System kernel products in the Ground Segment requirements. o Interfacing with the Mission Planning System kernel product experts in the MCA Team to coordinate their contributions to the requirements definition. System Architectural design o Support the generation of the architectural system level design of the Mission Planning System as part of the Ground Segment. o Support the production of design models using Systems Engineering and CASE tools. o Support the definition and documentation of all interfaces IRDsICDs between the elements of the Mission Planning System and other Ground Segment or external elements. o Incorporate the reuse of the EUMETSAT Mission Planning System kernel products in the Ground Segment design. Qualifications University degree in a relevant engineering discipline. Skills The key person shall demonstrate significant knowledge and experience in the area of specification, design, implementation, verification and maintenance of Mission Planning Systems. The key person shall have skills and experience in the following mandatory areas 1. Domain Skills Experience minimum 5 years in the definition of software requirements, architectural design, implementation and maintenance of Mission Planning Systems in the context of Low Earth Orbit LEO space missions. 2. Software Development, Verification Maintenance Skills Experience minimum 5 years in the full cycle of development and maintenance of application software, preferably for Mission Planning Systems, following formal software engineering processes. This includes user and system requirement analysis, software requirement engineering, software design, implementation, corrective and evolutive maintenance activities. Experience minimum 3 years in IVV integration, verification and validation activities, preferably for Mission Planning Systems, following formal engineering processes. This includes requirement verification, system and subsystem integration, generation of test plan and test procedures, nonregression testing, generation of test data, generation of test tools, running the test procedures on the target system, generation of test reports and anomaly tracking. 3. Software Engineering Skills Experience minimum 3 years in designing and developing software applications using C and Java programming languages for UNIXLinux operating systems. Experience minimum 3 years in designing and developing software applications using interfaces to relational database management systems RDBMS and experience with data model design for RDBMS. Experience minimum 3 years in designing and developing software applications using JBoss Drools as business rule management system.
