US apparel imports have surprisingly rebounded in September over a sudden recovery of Chinese shipments in volume, but also in value terms. Imports from Vietnam have even surged in September, after having slowed down in the past months. The September's recovery has helped three quarter data slightly taking off, also reflecting a rise of unit prices this year. Our monthly review covers US apparel import data, with historical trends being analyzed over the 2000-2018 period including cotton vs man-made fiber apparel, and China vs Rest of World (RoW) and vs Vietnam.

EU's clothing imports have begun more clearly dropping in volume terms in August, as a fall of the euro from a year earlier was inflating import prices. Chinese shipments have experienced a double-digit contraction for the fourth month this year. Bangladesh has not benefited from China's fall, with average unit prices were less falling than in first half. Our report covers monthly EU clothing import data, with historical trends being analyzed, and a specific focus on China vs Rest of World (RoW) and Bangladesh, and on knit vs woven clothing. Data are supplied in euro and in US dollars with historical data available for download, back to January 2000.
