Our client is seeking a Satellite System Interfaces Engineering Engineer to join the Satellite System Team in the Low Earth Orbit Division LEO and be involved in supporting the phase B system engineering activities related to the specification, design and development of the satellite system. The support will focus on justification of the system design, establishing and maintaining system budgets. The tasks and responsibilities include verify that all external system interfaces are identified and sufficiently covered in system requirements and system model, verify that the major internal inter segment system interfaces are identified and sufficiently covered in system requirements and system model, investigation of the best way to exploit the system model held in CORE tool from Vitech for interface definition. Implementation of any changes to the system model identified in order to aid the interface documentation, coordination and definition of technical interfaces with the external partners and service providers, organisehold meetings and workshops with external and major internal interface partners to establish interface detailsagreements, generate and maintain Interface Requirement Documents IRDs for all system interfaces using DOORs, identify the mechanisms to be used for detailed ICD definition eg use of XML etc, generate and maintain the system Interface Control Documents ICD, provide support to general system engineering activities analysis and trade off activities, preparation and maintenance of system technical specification documentation of system design and justification, ad hoc internal reviews, system level formal reviews SRR, PDR, provide support to progress meetings, support IVV activities. All candidates should have experience of large space systems space andor ground segments and of interface management and definitions along with a demonstrated capability to prepare and manage IRD and ICD. Candidates should be familiar with mechanisms and tools for detailed interface definition. Additional assets would be experience in the area of LowEarth Orbiting satellites LEO, CORE design tool Vitech and DOORs. All applicants should beprepared to travel within Europe, to the United States and possibly other parts of the world. All candidates must have a University or similar degree in the domain of engineering, science, or equivalent and be fluent in English, both spoken and written. Knowledge of French would be an advantage.

The support will focus on justification of the system design, establishing and maintaining system budgets Typical tasks will include analysis and justification of the system design,provide input to the system design justification document, especially concerning end to end performance aspects, identify all system areas that require a budget to be maintained, perform an apportionment between Space and Ground segments and any other element involved,control and document all technical budgets in accordance with ECSS standards,monitor lower level technical specifications and budgets for compliance to system apportionment,provide support to the IFCT and when needed ensure IFCT results are documented in a systematic manner,provide support to general system engineering activities preparation and maintenance of system technical specification,ad hoc internal reviews,system level formal reviews SRR, PDR, provide support to progress meetings, support IVV activities. The successful candidate should have experience of large space systems space andor ground segment and a demonstrated capability to clearly document a system design and justification along with a demonstrated ability to analyse system level requirements and apportion to lower level elements. Our client is seeking a Satellite System Engineer to assist in the definition and development of a suite of system test tools and test data for an upcoming Earth Observation EO program. Typical responsibilities will include Identification of EO test tools and test data required to support VV activities and definition of developmentprocurement approach and associated planning, development and validation of test tools and their maintenance, procurement of test toolstest data and acceptance testing, simulation of test data sets for VV using available tools, compilation of test data sets using real data from satellite and instruments, support for configuration management of toolstest data sets, operational support of the tools during system and ground segment VV, contributions to the analysis of test results and the preparation of test reports and preparation of User Requirement Documents, Statements of work. The successful candidate will have experience of VV activities for instrument processing chains, including test tools and test data along with experience in software specification, design and development according to ECSS standards. All applicants must be educated to a minimum of degree level or similar in Engineering Physics or equivalent and be fluent in English, both written and spoken. This position, based near Frankfurt in Germany, calls for experience of the overall systems aspects of satellite instrument chains embracing the space segment and all aspects of the ground segment including data processing and dissemination. Our client is responsible for establishing and operating weather forecasting and Earth observation satellite programmes with associated data telemetry and dissemination operations. Vast quantities of data are produced and user communities throughout the world are able to access both current and historical data sets. The demanding realtime environment places much emphasis on adherence to quality and configuration management standards and procedures. The main working language is English. The role will embrace Identification of contributors to performance radiometric spectral geometric allocation apportionment to elements of instrument chains Definition of approach for performance modelling review of adequacy of related modelling tools Compilation and analysis of endtoend performance budgets, as needed collecting input from space and ground segment studies Definition of overall approach for the development, verification and validation VV of processing chains Identification of implications of processing concepts for system ground segment requirements, architecture and design Identification of required tools and test data for the development and VV of processing chains Support for the development of relevant tools and the generation of required test data sets Validation of processing algorithms and verification of processing chains in the ground segment as relevant for system VV of endtoend instrument chains. Analysis of the implications of instrument calibration concepts for the system and ground segment and specifically for onground data processing Definition of the required infrastructure to perform tuning maintenance of calibration data and to validate generated products Review of system level documentation dealing with requirements, system concepts, architecture and design, technical analyses The key experience and attributes sought are At least 5 years of experience in the engineering of space or ground systems involving Earth observation from space At least 5 years involvement in the development of instruments such as sounders, imagers scatterometers and radiooccultation instruments Good overall knowledge of the instrument platform environment, processing algorithms, and ground segment environments Ability to perform analyses of combined space and ground segments top down and to perform syntheses and compile technical budgets bottom up Familiarity with the development of test tools and the generation of test data sets would be advantageous. Candidates should possess a University degree or equivalent. Fluency in English is essential. This is an assignment with an initial period of 21 months starting in October 2013 with two options to extend for further periods of one year each.
