Mother Jones: Within 35 years, even a cold year will be warmer than the hottest year on record, according to research published in Nature on Wednesday. The study, which used 39 climate models to make a single temperature index for places all over the world, estimates when major U.S. cities average temps will never again dip below that of the hottest year in the past century and a half. As the above chart shows, thats as early as 2043 for Phoenix and Honolulu, 2049 for San Francisco, and 2071 for Anchorage, Alaska....
Study: Temperatures go off the charts around 2047
2013-10-09 20:01:00| Climate Ark Climate Change & Global Warming Newsfeed
Associated Press: Starting in about a decade, Kingston, Jamaica, will probably be off-the-charts hot -- permanently. Other places will soon follow. Singapore in 2028. Mexico City in 2031. Cairo in 2036. Phoenix and Honolulu in 2043. And eventually the whole world in 2047. A new study on global warming pinpoints the probable dates for when cities and ecosystems around the world will regularly experience hotter environments the likes of which they have never seen before. And for dozens of cities, mostly in...

Koalas in danger as Aussie temperatures soar: Study
2013-10-05 16:00:00| Climate Ark Climate Change & Global Warming Newsfeed
Agence France-Presse: Australia's native koala could face a wipeout from increasing temperatures unless "urgent" action is taken to plant trees for shelter as well as eucalypts to eat, a study found Thursday. Lead researcher Mathew Crowther from the University of Sydney said the three-year study tracked 40 koalas by satellite in north-western New South Wales to examine their nesting and feeding habits. It was the first research to compare where the tree-dwelling marsupials spent their days against their nights and...

Clock Generator survives temperatures to 225°C.
2013-09-30 14:30:13| Industrial Newsroom - All News for Today
Suitable for building clock modules and frequency-based transducers, CHT-CG50LP provides reliable precision throughout -55 to +225°C range, and for 3.0–5.0 V supply voltages, up to 50 MHz. Circuit uses external crystal, and oscillator will always start up, regardless of conditions. Circuit also supports 32 kHz crystals for real-time clock generation needs. Other features include built-in frequency divider, selectable from 1–512; enable/disable control signal; and external clock input. This story is related to the following:Clock Generators

Climate panel forecast: Higher seas, temperatures
2013-09-28 16:00:00| Climate Ark Climate Change & Global Warming Newsfeed
Associated Press: Top scientists have a better idea of how global warming will shape the 21st century: In a new report, they predict sea levels will be much higher than previously thought and pinpoint how dangerously hot it's likely to get. In its most strongly worded report yet, an international climate panel said it was more confident than ever that global warming is a man-made problem and likely to get worse. The report was welcomed by the Obama administration and environmental advocates who said it made a strong...
