Boeing Company Executive Joins NIST Advisory Committee

John J. Tracy, CTO of The Boeing Company and Senior VP of Engineering, Operations and Technology, has joined NIST's Visiting Committee on Advanced Technology. Under Secretary of Commerce for Standards and Technology and NIST Director Patrick Gallagher selected Tracy to serve 3-year term on agency's primary private-sector policy advisory group. Discover magazine's 100 top stories of the year includes discovery of El Gordo, largest galaxy cluster ever found. Both discoveries were based on microwave data taken with Atacama Cosmology Telescope in Chile, which has camera made of superconducting sensors based on NIST design and superconducting amplifiers/electronics made at NIST.
