SK Telecom, KT, LG Uplus acquire 5G spectrum for KRW 4 trillion

(Telecompaper) South Korean mobile operators SK Telecom and KT have won 100 MHz each in the 3.5 GHz band for provision of 5G services, The Korea Times reports citing a statement from the Korean Ministry of Science and ICT. In the same auction, LG Uplus won 80 MHz in the 3.5 GHz band. The final price for the frequencies was lower than initially expected, namely KRW 4 trillion (USD 3.6 billion).

SATCOM Systems and network analysis and simulations. Support the preparation of the section RD technology roadmaps in the area of telecom systems and networks. Support the section telecom lab activities. Requirements PhD or Master degree in Telecommunication Engineering with particular emphasis on digital communication system and subsystem techniques, highspeed processing techniques for communication via satellites. Knowledge of satellite communication architectures and techniques. Experience in analysis and design of modern digital communication systems, coding and synchronization issues. Familiarity with modern communication system and subsystem simulation techniques, as a minimum Matlab and CC program languages. Knowledge of modern prototyping and testing methodologies for digital communication subsystems is also preferred. Strong technical background in telecommunication engineering and knowledge of the relevant communication protocols. Knowledge of the main satellite and wireless terrestrial telecom standards. Experience with communication system HW prototyping and testing e.g. FPGA, DSP, GPU, microprocessors. Broad technical expertise in telecommunication networks design with particular emphasis on physical and link layer, and good understanding of multiple access telecommunication protocols. Strong knowledge and experience in the simulation of complex telecom links at physical and MAC layers.
