Fairchild Semiconductor reported earnings of 12 cents a share for the second quarter, missing analysts' estimates of 20 cents a share. "Demand was weaker than expected during the second quarter from some mobile and appliance customers, the wireless telecom sector as well as general market distribution," chairman, president, and CEO Mark Thompson said.

Sonoco Products (SON) Stock Falls on Earnings Miss, Light Guidance

Sherwin-Williams (SHW) Stock Slumping After Earnings Miss, Soft Guidance

For the third quarter, Sherwin-Williams projects earnings of $3.75 to $3.90 per share, versus analysts' expectations of $4.14 per share. Analysts polled by Thomson Reuters expected the company to earn $3.81 per share on revenue of $3.26 billion.

CSR regime begins on a disappointing note; 2/3rd cos miss target

Ltd has exceeded the mandatory 2 per cent prescribed limit while spending the maximum amount among the Sensex companies that have so far disclosed their CSR spending figures for 2014-15 -- the first financial year for which the new law has been in force. Others who have managed to meet the target include Azim Premji-led Wipro, tobacco-to-fashion conglomerate ITC, FMCG major Infosys missed the limit by a small margin as on March 31, 2015, but said it managed to meet the target after spending the remainder amount of about Rs 3 crore in April.
