Apple, Samsung, Huawei take 80% of the Dutch market - Telecompaper

(Telecompaper) In the first quarter, the top three smartphone brands, made up of Samsung, Apple and Huawei, accounted for 80 percent of the Dutch market, measured by smartphone use. In the first quarter of 2015, this combined share was at 69 percent. The available leeway for small smartphone brands has therefore fallen over the same period to 20 percent from 31 percent, according to figures from the Consumer Insights panel.

Huawei no longer allowed to pre-install Facebook apps on its smartphones

(Telecompaper) Facebook said it will no longer allow its apps to get pre-installed on Huawei phones, Facebook told Reuters reported. Customers who already have Huawei phones will still be able to use Facebook, WhatsApp and Instagramm apps and receive updates. People will still be able to download the apps from the Google Playstore. That said, future versions of Huawei phones will not have access to the store and its apps unless the US government reverses its ban on the company.

Huawei looks to exit marine cabling market

(Telecompaper) Huawei has decided to sell its majority stake in Huawei Marine Networks, its joint venture with Global Marine Systems of the UK, the South China Morning Post reported. The joint venture, in which Huawei holds 51 percent, lays undersea ducts for internet cables. The new owner of the stake will be Hengtong Optic-Electric, a Jiangsu-based optical-cable manufacturer, Hengtong said in a stock exchange filing.
