Light-Based Li-Fi: Faster Than Wi-Fi, But Still Limited
2015-12-01 03:02:14| PC Magazine Wireless Networking Product Guide
One major dilemma with Li-Fi: it can't move through walls.
Here Comes Li-Fi, Wireless Tech That Is 100 Times Faster Than Wi-Fi
2015-11-30 16:01:03| Wireless - Topix.net
Velmenni , an Estonian startup has transmitted data at a revolutionary speed of 1 GB per second, a feat that is nearly 100 times faster than Wi-Fi; and that data speed was achieved with Li-Fi, a new data transmission technology that uses lightbulbs. Laboratory tests showed that Li-Fi transmitted data at the speed of 224 Gbps, but real life trials showed it actually does at 1 gigabit per second.

Global carbon emissions almost stall but warming can become faster
2015-11-28 13:59:00| Climate Ark Climate Change & Global Warming Newsfeed
International Business Times: With the Paris climate talks around the corner, there is good and bad news for the future. A study shows that the total greenhouse gas output rate has almost stalled. It increased by just 0.5% in 2014 compared to the 3-4% in the first decade of this century. However, a Swedish study shows that warming can increase due to the effect of man-made emissions on natural emissions. A cut in the former can help substantially reduce the warming. China's slow economic growth, its shift to clean energy...

Global warming will be faster than expected
2015-11-26 20:02:00| Climate Ark Climate Change & Global Warming Newsfeed
ScienceDaily: Global warming will progress faster than what was previously believed. The reason is that greenhouse gas emissions that arise naturally are also affected by increased temperatures. This has been confirmed in a new study from Linköping University that measures natural methane emissions. "Everything indicates that global warming caused by humans leads to increased natural greenhouse gas emissions. Our detailed measurements reveal a clear pattern of greater methane emissions from lakes at higher...

New Zealand needs to peddle faster on climate change
2015-11-23 01:00:00| Climate Ark Climate Change & Global Warming Newsfeed
Stuff: International climate policy is like a long-distance cycle race in which countries collectively aspire to set a fast time, but are not on course to do so. New Zealand, along with the EU and a few other developed countries, has been in the leading bunch, or peloton, though even this is moving slowly. What should be our strategy? We could break away from the peloton and try to stay in front. We could try to play an active role in the peloton. We could try to stay in the peloton but freeload on the...
