According to ASC President Matthew E. Croson, House of Representatives’ passage of the bipartisan Toxic Substances Control Act legislation marks the most significant achievement toward chemical regulatory reform since the passage of the Clean Air Act in 1990. The House approved H.R. 2576, the TSCA Modernization Act of 2015, by a vote of 398 in favor and 1 dissenting. With passage of H.R. 2576, attention shifts to Senate to vote on its version of TSCA reform.

PG&E would not be able to harvest a tax windfall from state authorities by taking a tax deduction for a record-setting $1.6 billion penalty because it caused a fatal explosion in San Bruno, under legislation introduced Friday by two Bay Area state lawmakers. In April, the state Public Utilities Commission imposed a $1.6 billion penalty to punish PG&E for its role in the explosion of natural gas, which killed eight and wrecked a quiet San Bruno neighborhood.

McCrory signs N.C. legislation to ease replacement of Duke Energy coal plant

The bill, which passed the General Assembly unanimously , changes the Coal Ash Management Act adopted last year to allow Duke more time to change its coal disposal processes at the Asheville plant. Under the original law, Duke had to convert the plant to dry ash disposal by 2019.
