Senate passes Keystone XL Pipeline legislation.

U.S. Senate passed Keystone XL Pipeline bill following 3 weeks of debate where more than 40 amendments were considered. Senators Portman (R-OH) and Shaheen (D-NH) offered amendment that would establish "Tenant Star," a voluntary, market-driven approach to aligning interests of commercial building owners and their tenants to reduce energy consumption. Amendment would also require that federally leased buildings without Energy Star labels benchmark and disclose energy usage data.

Northern Ireland consents to UK's standardised cigarette packaging legislation

Albemarle Supervisor Disagrees on Response to Proposed Legislation

The Albemarle County Board of Supervisors issued a statement saying it doesn't support proposed legislation that would put additional constraints on the Route 29 improvement projects, but one supervisor says he doesn't agree. Delegate Rob Bell introduced a bill amendment this week that would place new restrictions on Virginia Department of Transportation projects in this district, including the Route 29 and Rio Road interchange.
