Last week in telecoms: DNA (+13%) biggest winner, TalkTalk heaviest loser (-12%)
2018-02-05 07:34:00| Telecompaper Headlines
(Telecompaper) Positive news also came out of Finland, with both DNA (+13.3%) and Elisa (+8.3%) going up sharply on strong results. Telia (+2.0%) was also up, but Telenor (-2.6%) couldn't benefit, despite raising its dividend and possibly finding a buyer for its Serbian unit. Tele2 (-0.9%) was down as well after reporting steep mobile losses in Sweden and uninspiring developments in the Netherlands. KPN's (-3.6%) Q4 report was in line with market expectations. Technology developments in its fixed-line network, involving advanced VDSL-technology, couldn't prevent the share ending the week down.
Last week in telecoms: Sky (+4.6%) versus Tele Columbus (-4.0%), European telecom basket year-to-date +1.2%
2018-01-29 07:42:00| Telecompaper Headlines
(Telecompaper) The Telecompaper basket of European telecom stocks gained 0.9 percent last week (week 4). Sky (+4,6%) showed the best performance on the back of its semi-annual results and several product announcements. Investors apparently shrugged off the news of the UK regulator's decision to block the planned takeover by 21st Century Fox, on fears of Rupert Murdoch becoming too influential in the UK news business. Telia (+3,5%) also fared well, after reporting Q4 results and plans to sell its Georgian subsidiary.
