Deutsche Telekom to launch own smart speaker, voice assistant

(Telecompaper) Deutsche Telekom is building its own smart speaker and voice assistant for the German market, to take on Apple, Amazon and Google. Michael Hagspihl, head of the consumer customer business at Telekom Deutschland, told Die Welt that the time is ripe to launch such a product with data protected by German privacy laws. Asked about the potential market share, he said the company was not planning to offer a niche product.

Deutsche Telekom raises FY outlook again after Q3 growth

(Telecompaper) Deutsche Telekom has again raised its full-year outlook, after reporting solid growth in Q3 results, led by its activities in the US. Revenues rose 0.8 percent to EUR 18.3 billion, and adjusted EBITDA was up 3.3 percent to EUR 5.7 billion. On an organic basis, excluding notably the impact of the weaker dollar, revenues increased 3.3 percent and EBITDA 5.7 percent.

Deutsche Telekom launches 4K STB in Germany with Zenterio

Zenterio has announced that TDG Germany, owned by Deutsche Telekom Group, has deployed a second set-top box (STB) powered by Zenterio OS as part of the Deutsche Telekom Group's strategy to harmonize STB client software across all of its operations in Germany, Hungary, Greece, Romania, and Croatia.

Magyar Telekom introduces 2 Gbps home internet package

(Telecompaper) Magyar Telekom started providing a 2 Gbps home internet package named 'Home Internet 2000' in areas covered by its fibre-optic network. The operator said this is the country's first internet package supporting such high internet speeds. The package can be ordered for HUF 11,631 for an indefinite period together with two other home services.
