Terma Space operates out of Denmark, The Netherlands, Germany, and the UK. Job description For our office in Darmstadt, Germany, we are seeking an AIX Solaris System Administrator. As a member of a IT Support Group, you will provide support to Ground Segment Commissioning and Routine Operations on our customer providing 1st and 2nd level support of the AIX, Solaris and GNULinux based ground segment facilities. This includes preventive and corrective system administrative task, interface to HW repair and COTS support maintenance contract. Responsibilities As an AIX Solaris System Administrator your tasks will typically include but are not limited to Installation and configuration of operating system and other software, tuning of operating systems parameters to optimize performance Analysis, planning and performance tuning of Hardware HW and Software SW installations, ensuring compatibility between subsystems Monitoring of the system performance, investigation of HW and system SW problems and performance of the relevant corrective actions Ensuring that in case of HW or system SW failures the operational configuration can be restored, including the definition, maintenance, performance of backup procedures Liaise with the external providers of HW and system SW maintenance for the request and follow up of maintenance interventions Perform administration and installation of databases Administration of user accounts Support to SW development and maintenance on system related matters implementation and maintenance of scripts andor procedures where applicable for the automated andor controlled execution of the above activities, generation or update of technical documentation in relation to system upgrades Provision of support, as required, to critical operations In the performance of the activities you shall apply the relevant change control and maintenance procedures. This is a full time position, located at our office in Darmstadt, Germany, starting in ASAP. Standby callout support and provision of support to critical operations, may sometimes be required. Qualifications Competencies Applicants shall have a university degree in computer science or equivalent. You should have an expert knowledge and a significant work experience of the AIX operating systems, and should be familiar, to the extent required by the performance of the above tasks. Mandatory skills This is a Junior position with proven knowledge and at least 1 year handson experience with the following On Power Systems very good experience on operating systems AIX 6.1 7.1 and IBM virtualization, including MicroPartitioning, LPAR, VIOS Administration and configuration of IBM pSeries using HMC and AMM Definition, implementation, testing and documentation of endtoend system changes Preparation of technical documentation in English in a complete and clear manner In addition, experience in the installation, administration and troubleshooting on some of the following shall be considered as an advantage Distributed File System GPFS High availability software IBM PowerHA PowerVC Experience with the monitoring tools based on Nagios VMWare Virtualization Solaris and GNULinux experience It is also an advantage if you can carry out basic hardware support like installing interface cards or physically setting up networks. Fluency in English spoken and written is mandatory, as English is the working language.
